Blimey, this one’s a proper head-scratcher from the off 😅 First you get that pure white wine zing, sharp as anything, then whiffs of damp raw wool hit you like you’ve just walked past a sheep pen on a dales walk. Minerality’s off the charts – stony, stones aplenty, like you’re sucking on limestone chippings. There’s uncooked turnip and celeriac notes, that raw veg vibe, plus sharp sour apples straight from a southern hemisphere orchard, and proper Kiwi tang too. Whole thing’s tense at first, all grassy, angular, no soft edges, proper austere, uncompromising whisky that loses you at times when the flavours jump all over. You get wee bits of smoky coal smoke, sooty but not acrid, wood smoke hanging round, then a smidgen of candy sugar sweetness cuts through the bitters just when you think it’s all rough. Finish is quite long, leaves porridge and bready aftertaste, even a hint of muesli? Reminds me of lemon squash from a village fete, proper countryside in a glass 🥃

Had a dram tonight that hit me with a wee smokiness and a hint of coal smoke, then slipped into a bready aftertaste that reminded me of fresh porridge on a chilly morning. There’s a smidgen of sweetness like candy sugar, a sharp splash of lemon squash, and sour apples peeking through. The grassy notes and whiffs of damp raw wool give it that southern‑hemisphere vibe, almost like NZ porridge with a stony, austere edge. It’s uncompromising, a bit tense, loses you at times, but I love the rugged, sooty character. 🥃

这口酒刚下去，先是一阵生硬的石头味扑面而来，像是嚼了块没煮熟的芜菁。然后突然冒出点新西兰的草香，还有那股子潮湿的生羊毛味，直让人皱眉。烟熏倒是有，但薄薄一层，像烧柴火时飘过来的烟雾，没多久就散了。 后劲来得挺急，像是被柠檬水和白葡萄酒的酸劲儿抽了一巴掌。还有点面包渣的余味，干干的，嚼起来像没放糖的麦片。整体太紧绷了，时不时就跑偏，让你抓不住主调。最后那丝甜，像糖果店里剩下的最后一颗糖，转瞬就没了。真够扎实的，但也够折磨人 😅

Sharp as a winter morning, with a tang of grapefruit and sour apples—almost makes you pucker. There’s a hint of candy sugar, but it’s quickly swallowed by stones and turnips, like walking through a stony field after the rain. Grassy, earthy, a bit raw—feels like the countryside in a glass. Loses me for a second, but then that pure, austere smokiness brings it back. Not for the faint-hearted, this. 🥃

Right, so poured myself a dram tonight and... blimey, this one's got character. First thing I get is this sharp sour apple note, almost like biting into something unripe. Then there's this stony mineral thing going on, very austere. Reminds me of standing in a field somewhere in the countryside with grasses blowing about. A bit of coal smoke sneaks in, sooty, like an old fireplace. There's a wee smokiness that hangs around. Getting some weird vegetable notes too – celeriac and turnips of all things 😅 Almost tastes a bit raw and uncooked somehow. The finish is quite long, with this bready aftertaste that's quite pleasant. Fades into something like porridge or muesli left out. A tiny bit of candy sugar sweetness tries to balance it all out but this is a pretty uncompromising whisky overall. Sometimes it just loses you at times, honestly. All these sharp angular notes bouncing around. Whiffs of damp raw wool in there too if you really dig for it. Not an easy one to pin down but interesting innit 🥃
