The mid‑stage is surprisingly bold – like a cup of herbal tea with a kick of ginger and a hint of spices, almost like a very light Tabasco. There's a dry, almost grassy edge that feels a bit too green for my taste. The finish lingers, with caramel and a touch of burnt cake, a whisper of marzipan, and a faint pollen buzz. It’s long and complex, a bit more gingery as it goes, and ends with a gentle bitterness that feels like a late‑night coffee. 🌿🍯

Christ, this is a proper masterclass isn’t it? 🥃 First you get that salty, briny hit like smoked oysters and oily seaweed, then weird notes of bacon fat, green olive, even a faint shoe polish whiff? Mid palate’s got that earthy sooty fire hearth vibe, old hay, citrussy zing, faint medicinal antiseptic edge, little fermenting soy sauce umami too. Finish is superbly long, pins you right in its spotlight – smoked chalk, mineral notes, herbal twangs, hot metal coins at the very end. Bottled at perfect strength, that greasy but clean peaty texture’s so well poised, loads of bewildering subtle complexities but everything’s in its place. Even slightly underrated if you ask me. Absolute belter.

Citrus peels zinging, that sharp brine like you’ve just cracked open a jar of olives 🫒 Then it pins you in its spotlight—all that oily seaweed, slick and thick, with a greasy sheen like bacon fat sizzling. Hot metal coins on the tongue? Yeah, and a bit of antiseptic punch—like old hay + smoke from a sooty fire hearth. Smoked chalk and smoked oysters, oddly clean beneath it all. Sensation of salinity builds, earthy, sooty… and that weirdly perfect combo of pure sharpness with textural fatness? 😳 Everything feels in its place. Poised, even slightly brutal at times—but brilliant. Amazing whisky. Full stop.

Quite complex nose with burnt cake and fudge, a touch of caramel and herbal tea. Palate is much less smoky than I expected, getting peatier than anticipated, lots of spices building up, more and more gingery as it opens. A little bitter but in a nice way, a whisper of camphor and a dash of Tabasco heat. Finish is long, banana‑sweet at the end, with a bit too grassy note lingering. Quite bold. 😊
