Took a dram this evening, first hit was big arrival of smoked meats and medicinal‑tinged peat smoke, then a waxy, tarry mouthfeel that felt really thick in the mouth. Lots of mineral notes, a touch of cough medicine and herbal bitters, with reddish fruit and a hint of orangey gold. Finished long, with a salty kick like excellent saltiness and a whiff of dunnage must. Almost like sipping on a bit of Madeira mixed with menthol tobacco – weirdly comforting. 🍂

Blimey, this is an absolute belter of a dram 🥃 Big arrival, thick in the mouth, waxy texture too, all that fruitier bramble wine, honey-glazed ham and playful sweetness right off the bat. Then you get that medicinal cough medicine edge mixed with medicinal-tinged peat smoke, tarry natural tar extract, salted Dutch liquorice, even that whiff of dunnage must and sense of wine must that makes it feel so rounded. Wonderfully peppery kick, hints of aniseed, hardwood resins, camphor, that tiny drop of iodine, menthol tobacco and herbal bits too. Smoked meats, treacle, madeira notes, elegantly sweet with excellent saltiness, little mineral edge peeking through. Long finish, bags of distillery character, so complex, honestly you can tell those great quality casks did their job. Proper tip-top vintage vibe, no messing 😂

This dram’s got real presence, you know? Full term maturation shines through – it’s thick in the mouth, almost like that honey-glazed ham smothered in treacle. There’s a playful sweetness upfront, but then this wonderfully peppery kick hits, followed by something tarry, like licking a tar-extractor’s boot. Aniseed and cough medicine notes dance about, while the dark fruits cling on like sticky toffee. The finish? Long. Really long. Loads of distillery character, that sort of resinous funk that makes you think of old dunnage warehouses and great quality casks. It’s not just complex – it’s got bags of it. Medicinal-tinged peat smoke, salted Dutch liquorice rounding things off… Proper belter, this. 🥃

This dram’s got a real presence. The colour’s this deep orangey gold, like old wood soaked in sunlight. On the nose, there’s a proper hessian character – earthy, rough around the edges. Then the medicinal-tinged peat smoke kicks in, reminds me of a bonfire on a damp night, with undertones of smoked meats and natural tar. In the mouth, it’s thick, almost syrupy, clinging to the tongue. Treacle and hardwood resins blend with juicier red fruits and a hint of madeira. The finish’s long, peppery and lightly herbal, like chewing on salted Dutch liquorice and cough sweets. Undeniably tip-top vintage stuff, that’s aged properly – full term maturation showing through every sip. Bags of distillery character, no doubt. 🥃🔥

Poured a dram and it’s a gorgeous orangey gold colour. 🥃 Really lovely nose – first hit is sticky dark fruits and treacle, then that natural tar and medicinal-tinged peat smoke comes through. Gets more complex with a bit of time, picking up some honey-glazed ham and a drop of iodine. Thick in the mouth, wonderfully peppery with a big arrival. There’s a playful sweetness from red fruits and bramble wine, balanced by salted Dutch liquorice and herbal bitters. A hint of cough medicine and aniseed in there too. The finish is long and tarry, with resinous dark fruit notes and a bit of soot. Still that lovely mineral quality and dunnage must. A seriously complex dram with bags of distillery character. 😌
