This is just glorious. Colour’s a deep amber, and it’s got that old amontillado and old cognac vibe right away. Loads of dried fruits—dates, stewed prunes, and even some waxed figs. Giving it a swirl and I’m getting toasted croissants and heather on the nose. There’s a bit of liquorice and orange squash in there too, maybe some mirabelles. It feels so rounder and smooth, definitely no modern wood-technology here. The taste is mentholy at first, like mentholy sultanas and even a bit of camphory. Then the old tobaccos come out, along with some dried fruits and currants. It’s got this lovely game-y note, like Parma ham, and just a touch of leather polish. Finish is long and complex, with mentholy sultanas and a bit of liquoricy warmth. Honestly, it’s like a sip of history—very resinous and just keeps going. Cheers! 🥃
