Blimey, this one’s proper something else, innit? 🥃 That deep amber colour’s a dead giveaway first, y’know? Nose hits you with citrons, orange squash, then all the dried fruit vibes – dates, waxed figs, currants, pears, even mirabelles, plus that old amontillado nutty tang, manuka honeys, mentholy sultanas with a little camphory fresh kick. First sip’s glorious, proper complex. You get that stewed prune sweetness, mentholy fudges, even a weird but brilliant miso soup umami hint? Then game-y depth, old tobaccos, tobacco strand, a little Parma ham savoury edge, even that liquorice, liquoricy bite. Oak’s been mastered to perfection, no modern wood-technology nonsense, so you get toasted croissants, shortbreads, mutton suet richness, old cognac warmth, very resinous undertones, heather notes, even a whiff of leather polish like you’d use on old Connolly kit. Finish is long, so rounder and smooth, just lingers nicely. Proper cracker of a dram, that. 🥃
