Nosing this dram, the deep amber colour catches my eye. It brings up old tobaccos and mentholy fudges on the nose, with hints of manuka honeys and heather. It feels smooth and liquoricy in the mouth, like waxed figs and stewed prunes. The finish is long and resinous, with touches of game-y complexity and a rounder end. Really glorious stuff! 🥃😊

刚抿一口,先是那股Old Amontillado的坚果和太妃糖感冲在前头,有点像打开了老酒窖的门。🫠 紧跟着是Mutton Suet和Parma Ham那种咸鲜油润,但不腻,反而带出点陈年皮革的质感。舌头中间泛起Mentholly的凉意,像含了片薄荷叶,但又掺着Mentholly Fudges的甜,挺奇妙的。 中段跑出来很多干果:Waxed Figs、Currants、Sultanas,裹着Orange Squash那种浓缩果汁的甜酸。Oak感确实控制得极好,是那种扎实又柔和的支撑,完全没生涩的木头味。 最惊喜的是背后飘着些Miso Soup的鲜、Mirabelles的果酸,还有Manuka Honeys的温润甜香,层次一下就打开了。收尾很长,从Liquoricy的甘草味慢慢变成Toasted Croissants的焦香,最后留个非常Resinous的松脂感在喉咙里,久久不散。🍃 整体就是杯复杂但喝着一点不费劲的老派好酒,有种手工打磨的温润。✨

Right, so this one's a proper journey. Poured myself a dram last evening, had it neat. Nose hits you first - old cognac barrels, I reckon. Then there's this deep, almost savoury note, like a hint of mutton suet in a rich stew. Gets your attention. Took a sip, and whoa. The dried fruits come through massively – figs, dates, currants, all that good stuff. Like a Christmas pudding liquidised, but in a really sophisticated way. Manuka honey sweetness ties it together. 🤤 The middle bit is where it gets interesting. There's this waxed fig thing, plus something like toasted croissants with that buttery crust. A very resinous, slightly mentholated sultana note pops up too, which is wild. Finish is dead long. That old tobacco strand comes through, just like the smell of a well-loved leather pouch. Pears and orange squash lighten it up, but that liquoricy depth just lingers. Smooth doesn't even begin to cover it. Honestly, it's rounder and more complex than my old favourite jumper. Each sip gives you something new to chew over. Glorious stuff. A proper treat for a slow evening.

一倒出来就闻到那种 deep amber 的颜色,嘿,有点 old tobaccos 和 dried fruits 混在一起的味道,挺 complex 的。 先尝一口,有 pears 和 mirabelles 的甜,然后突然冒出点 Parma ham 的咸鲜,还有 miso soup 那种深沉的 umami,这组合挺妙的。中段有些 stewed prunes 和 dates 的厚重感,夹着 liquorice 和 camphory 的清凉。 质地很 smooth,像 warmed shortbreads。后段那股 waxed figs 和 currants 的果味出来了,带着一缕 tobacco strand。收尾很长,有点 mentholy sultanas 和 manuka honeys 的甜,最后变成 heather 和 very resinous 的木质调。 感觉橡木用得真是恰到好处,完全吸收了。整体很 rounder,有点在烤 toasted croissants 旁边喝茶的感觉?就……很 glorious,很享受的一杯。☺️

Deep amber in the glass, feels proper cosy 🥃 I get stewed prunes, figs, a bit of honey, then old leather, tobacco and liquorice. Quite smooth and rounded, with a menthol/camphor lift that keeps it lively. Long finish, slightly resinous, a touch funny in a good way — like toasted croissants and a savoury Parma ham note. Complex but not hard work.
