Just had a dram of this one – straight up, I'm getting porridge and some menthol emerging, a tad less complex than I expected. There's a touch of mustard and grapefruit, you know, that citrus zing. Opposite style from what I usually pick, but it's growing on me. A few drops of bière de garde pop into mind, lovely notes of aubergine on green apple. Hmm, a bit of rubber there, but marvellous – very characteristic indeed. Artichoke and fruit peelings, with touches of old walnuts that have been left down in the cellar, all waxy. Lovely abundance of wet chalk, feels younger, hint of heather honey. Almost like a Trappist whisky, long finish with green pepper, green pepper – no kidding, S.? Paraffin and citrus, zesty notes, oily mouthfeel. Grain of salt in the aftertaste, sooty, bit like the Sponge. Nothing to do with the new official 16-year-old, though. Banana skin and eucalyptus thrown in, right between the coal pile and the oil tank. Excellent! 😊
