Hm, interesting one this. Gets you with strong tea notes right off the bat — proper tannic stuff. Not much vanilla or bourbon influence at all, which is a change of pace. The oak's really coming through, almost too much maybe, that sort of dry walnut skin thing on the tongue. A bit mineral too. There's a wee bit of mint hiding in there, and it builds into this mentholated aftertaste that lingers longer than expected. Grows on you a little, but also starts feeling a touch unbalanced as it goes. Honestly it's quite drinkable, no real flaws as such, but it does feel rather young. The wood's doing most of the talking and not letting much else through. Not one I'd reach for first, but perfectly decent for a midweek dram. Not bad, not my favourite either. 🥃
