Blimey, proper nice old grain blend I had last night 👌 Nice and harmless nose right off the bat, you get honeysuckle, nectary flowers, even those odd whiffs of pencil shavings that had me side-eye the glass for a sec 😂 I thought it might end up being that weak and woody old spirit some budget grains are, but nah, first sip was way fresher and fruitier than I expected, proper strawberry jam notes, plus chamomile, cinnamon, coconut and heaps of that expected vanilla. Tastes like a very old light bourbon but way more easy going, low strength at CS so you don’t get tired at all, good mouth feel, no big oak clobbering the other flavours, proper normal with no weird funky aftertaste. It’s definitely up there with my favourite old grains, super very harmless, perfect for a quiet evening. Only gripe is it’s a little short, leaves you wanting another pour pretty sharpish.

First nose is all fresh herbal teas and strawberry jam, which is a nice surprise. The mouth feel is proper good, smooth and easy, not too heavy. It’s a weak and woody old spirit, but in a way that’s dangerously drinkable—hardly scary at all. Whiffs of pencil shavings sneak in, but it’s not off-putting. On the palate, white chocolate and coconut come through, fruitier than I expected, like lime tree and nectary flowers. No big oak here, just a very old light bourbon with plenty of vanilla. The finish is a little short, but chamomile and cinnamon linger, very harmless. Tastes fresher than your usual old grain, though. Nice balance overall.

This one’s got a really friendly nose – all chamomile and honeysuckle, maybe a hint of coconut lingering in the back. It’s fresher than I thought it’d be, quite lively for something that’s meant to be a proper old grain. The taste is smooth, almost harmless, with white chocolate and strawberry jam dancing around – dangerously drinkable, if I’m honest. There’s a weird but pleasant whiff of pencil shavings in there too, like an old desk drawer mixed with herbal teas. The mouth feel is proper nice, though it’s a tad short and fades quicker than I’d like. Not sure about the “scary” bit – feels more like a gentle hug than anything. Surprisingly fruity, almost bourbon-like in its lightness, but without the heavy oak nonsense. A bit weak and woody at the end, but that’s not a bad thing. Just a cosy, easy dram. 🥃

Had a dram earlier, fresh nose with honeysuckle and a hint of strawberry jam, mouth feel was nice and smooth, not too big on oak, just a whisper of woody old spirit, a bit like very old light bourbon but lighter. Herbal teas and chamomile notes peek through, with a whiff of pencil shavings and a touch of coconut. Low strength at CS makes it easy to sip, a little short on the finish but still very harmless and dangerously drinkable. Bit of lime tree zest and white chocolate sweetness, overall fresher than expected, fruitier than I thought. Quite normal for a casual evening, not tired at all. 😊

Got a dram here that's got a nice and harmless nosé — plenty of vanilla and honeysuckle, maybe a hint of chamomile and pencil shavings. It's fresher than expected on the palate, with lime tree and white chocolate coming through. Fruitier than expected too, almost like a bit of strawberry jam. Good mouth feel, easy to drink, and at cask strength it feels surprisingly gentle... dangerously drinkable, honestly. Noticed some herbal tea notes and a touch of cinnamon. Favourite old grains kind of vibe, though maybe a little short on the aftertaste. Still, I'm not tired at all — just enjoying this one slowly. 🙂
