Rich gold colour. The first thing that hits the nose is genuinely lovely, very much like a fine, old chardonnay – that oily, waxy thing. You can tell there's some complex old grain in there. Taste-wise, it's got a good mouthfeel, really coats the tongue. I'm getting vanilla, but then these little camphor touches and this olive oil richness, almost like a good extra-virgin oil on salad. It's rather sweet and sour in places, with that grape pip oil bitterness. It's so wine-like, honestly. Reminds me a bit of a good vegetable bouillon or a proper bouillabaisse – a savoury, malty depth. A bit of walnut and marzipan in there too. The finish is medium, pleasant, leaving that old white wine impression. It's a proper drink with food kind of whisky. Really hits those malty territories. 🥃

Really reminds me of sipping an old, dry chardonnay or one of those complex white wines. Finish is medium, holds on with a gentle malty warmth and that nutty oiliness. Quite moreish, actually.
