Just poured a dram of this oddball whisky, and it's a proper trip. First hit is vineyard peach – sweet and summery, but then there's this tweed-like richness, almost vintage. The motor oil texture greases the mouth so thick, with an air of an old forge, all metal and sparks. Hints of melon sneak in, and an unexpected touch of jasmine tea? Lavender pops up too, delicate. There's a sourdough tang on the finish, and it's not very what you'd expect – unusual character, discreet like a gentleman. Probably an ex-cognac cask, making it beautiful and delicious. Long finish, and somehow it all ties together, improbable as it sounds. Even got a bit of that Schweppes fizz. 😊

Quite a curious dram this one. The colour's very pale straw, looks almost delicate in the glass but don't let that fool you. First thing that hits me is this coal tar soap thing, very savoury and almost medicinal. Reminds me of bacon crisps oddly enough, with a bit of that smoky wort underneath. There's something coastal going on too, like you're stood near the sea with salt spray in the air — definite seawater and preserved lemons in brine character. With a touch of water it simplifies a little, gets a bit softer and more approachable. The austerity fades and you start picking up these herbal tea notes, some hay, and citrus rinds that add a nice freshness. Almost like a gristy, porridge vibe in the background — salted porridge if that makes sense 😄 The finish has good length, stays with you. There's still that medicinal edge lingering, like bandages almost, and this coal scuttle smokiness that's quite moreish. Overall quite austere to begin with but opens up nicely. Bit dry on the tongue, maybe a tad simple in places, but the balance is honestly pretty easy-going. You get these aromatic coastal qualities that keep it interesting without being too in-your-face. Not a bad sip at all for a quiet evening 🥃

Just had a proper nose and sip of this... Wow. Beautiful and delicious doesn't quite cover it. It's like a gentleman in a really well-worn tweed jacket. First thing that hit me was that ex-bourbon cask and Caol Ila power, all sooty and marine, with a weird, greasy motor oil thing going on. Then it just opens up. Air of an old forge, a bit of sea salt. But then – and this is the mad part – out comes this whisper of rosemary, lavender, and a surprising touch of jasmine tea. Almost effervescent, like fancy Schweppes on the palate. The finish has this sourdough and ginger warmth. Sits on your tongue like a dram should, but the character is so unusual. Definitely the most surprising one I've had in ages. 👏
