Just a dram that’s got this old oak kind of transmuted into some kind of od embrocation – warm, woody, but not overpowering. Coconut wine and crystallised pineapple hit first, sweet and sun-drenched, like a tropical afternoon trapped in glass. There’s papaya jam too, thick and jammy, but it’s balanced by something sharper, a hint of camphor or maybe pine resin that keeps it from cloying. Mead and honeydew mingle underneath, mellow and still fresh despite the decades. It’s not ‘oaky’ at all on your palate, just a marvellous old cask whispering stories, very specific and almost persons – reminds me of an old British actress, all elegance and character. The finish is long, with a touch of artichoke and melted beeswax, leaving you thinking of best terroirs and why some casks just get it right. Best cases indeed, this one’s a miracle of restraint. 🥃✨

Poured a dram and it shone full gold, still fresh with honeyed notes and a touch of mead. There’s a hint of coconut wine and papaya jam, plus a whisper of artichoke and a faint camphor edge – it plays it elegantly on the tongue. Not oaky at all, no obvious dryness, just a pretty long finish that feels like a little miracle, reminding me of an old British actress thinking back over many an old chardonnay. 🍯

This dram’s a proper treat – full gold in the glass, smooth as silk. First nose hits you with pine resin and fir liqueur, reminds me of walking through a Highland forest after rain. There’s a whisper of papaya jam and crystallised pineapple, sweet but not cloying, like sunshine in a glass. The mouthfeel’s elegant, never oaky, more like a grown-up coconut wine with a cheeky mead-like glow. Stunning refill cask magic here – honeyed notes and a hint of artichoke dance with the warmth, yet it’s still fresh, no obvious dryness. Reminds me of old chardonnays from better days, that buttery richness, but with a wilder edge. Almost syrupy, like melted beeswax and something floral, maybe camphor? Odd, but works.
