Blimey, cracked open this refill cask number last night, proper nice 🥃 Nose first hits with honey, almonds (some bitter almond notes too), juicy apple compote, that fruitier burst, plus a faint whiff of old papers and green oak, slight greenness like cheap green tea left steeping too long. Palate is medium bodied, light enough, round and luscious like that well-kept old cask stuff you save for lazy Sundays, nutmeg from the oak comes through clear, grassy, slightly salty edge, hint of sherriness, even a little tarte tatin sweetness tucked in there. Finish has mineral tang, bitter walnuts, bit of straw, leathery aftertaste, super subtle earthy peat just at the very end, goody good overall, though not greatly great if I’m being dead honest?
