Took a sip and immediately hit this thick, almost syrupy medicinal kick – like liquid aspirin mixed with engine oil, but in a good way. There's this oily, peat-heavy smoke that clings to the back of your throat, reminds me of standing by a fishing boat in a storm, the kind where your wellies are caked in brine. The palate's got crushed seashells and grilled whelks dancing about, with a proper coastal freshness underneath all that tar and coal smoke. Smoked limes and preserved lemons bring a zesty tang, while the tarragon and green herbs give it a weirdly elegant herbal edge. It’s like they've bottled the essence of a windswept beach – salty, smoky, and alive with this fragile but distinctive character. The age shows too, deeper and more complex than younger drams I've had, with a long, smoky finish that’s both bold and oddly refreshing. Quite a departure, but lovely stuff

Blimey, this is quite a departure! Pale straw in the glass, and on the nose it’s got that slightly farmy, sheep wool thing going on, but then it’s all slathered in this gorgeous, deep peat smoke. First sip is something else. It’s deeper and oilier than I expected, that umami core is really holding everything together. It’s got this rather elegant but thready antiseptic note – like aspirin and green herbs, dried tarragon. And the coastal bit is still wonderfully fresh, throwing up thoughts of crab meat, various shellfish meats, and even grilled whelks from a seaside stall. The finish is just… long. Coal smoke, motor oil, and this beautiful sandalwood smoke that just lingers. It’s got this wonderfully fragile but distinctive coastal quality, a bit of black pepper and smoked mint right at the end. The difference that age brings is always quite striking with these coastal malts. This one’s got that syrupy, medicinal depth but still feels vibrant. Bish. Bash. Bosh. Really excellent! A nod towards some of the classic Islay giants, for sure. Quite beautiful. 🌊

Poured it in, and right off the bat you smell that petrol‑kick—like a brandy‑soufflé rolled into a garage. The first sip lifts a green‑herb buzz, but then the surf hits in, with a briny, lemony whisper that’s almost like the sea mist after a storm. There’s a mild coughing of motor‑oil thriftiness, a dry crack of crushed seashells, and the odd bit of syrupy medicine that feels oddly comforting, like a bad old garden potion. The cedar sap and a hint of sandalwood smoke keep it from going limp, teasing the after‑taste with a faint oily tang that says, “stay awhile.” Every swirl feels like a brisk walk along a rocky coast, wind in your face and the faint smell of smoked mint beside the salty tang. It’s cheeky, a bit dirty, but oddly charming—really excellent, I’ll give it that. 🥃

My goodness, that's a proper mouthful of the sea, isn't it? First sip and I'm straight on the coast... all crushed seashells and briny, preserved lemon. It's wonderfully fragile but there's this distinctive coastal quality underneath. Then it just builds... more complex, more deeper. That thick, syrupy medicinal coat comes in, all slathered in peat and coal smoke. It's rather fat and thick on the tongue, like motor oil or olive oil. A nod towards Port Ellen in some ways, actually. Quite beautiful. There's a farmy note, like sheep wool, mixed with crab meat and various shellfish meats. Pretty much pure seawater with a punch of petrol and ink. Dried tarragon, green herbs... and that slightly dirty boiler smoke smell, like rubber fishing wellies. Really excellent! Bish. Bash. Bosh. 😌
