Blimey, this dram’s an absolute belter 🥃 Nosing it first you get those pressed wildflowers, toasted pine cones and a little ashy tickle right off the bat First sip’s 43% but it’s pure, oily and smooth, no harshness at all Flavour’s broad, complex and layered but chiselled and direct, no fancy tricks, just straightforward proper whisky Peppery peaty quality that’s so big it wraps roun your tongue like a peaty blanket, quilts the palate real nice Got that briny sardines in brine kick, cured game meats, old medicinal liqueurs sort of depth, plus zingy preserved lemons and lime oils cutting through Pink sea salt pops up, tar resins in the back, boggy earthy notes too, even a little fat mouthfeel that’s lush Finishes short and sweet but also long enough to leave you reaching for another sip, very expressive, reminds you of those proper old 1970s vintages, that classic old school Islay vibe without being OTT 🤌
