Just had a wee dram – lovely peat and grass smoke up front, a zing of sour fruit like lemon, a briny seaside whisper with hints of olives and gherkins, a touch of smoked kipper and capers, then it mellows into a soft Caol Ila feel with a faint ex‑anejo sweetness, long finish, very good indeed 🥃

🥃 Blimey, this is proper good stuff innit? Soft first sip, hits with bright sour fruit and lemons, even a little zingy white wine vibe to it. Got that classic Islay peat and grass smoke, no harshness though, y’know? Briny seaweed, seawater, like you’ve just been stood on a Scottish coast eating smoked kippers with gherkins and capers on the side. Even got that little woody branches and roots tang, fatter mouthfeel as it sits, long finish with a hint of agave from the ex-reposado and ex-anejo casks, not overly mezcaly at all, just a nice little extra kick. Even reminds me weirdly of snacking on green olives and leek while someone’s burning Stuyvesant and Kools nearby, such a random but perfect combo.

The palate felt fatter, bringing notes of green olive, gherkins and a touch of agave from an ex‑reposado cask. Finish was long, soft and a little briny, like seawater over branches and roots, not overly mezcaly. Very good, proper Islay vibeslay vibes. 🥃

This dram’s a proper surprise – the nose hits you with seaweed and smoke, like a briny Islay morning, but there’s something else... a hint of agave and green olive that’s not too mezcaly, more like a subtle exotic twist. On the tongue, it’s soft as a Caol Ila, but fatter, with charred leeks and smoked kippers mingling in. The peat’s there, proper and earthy, but it’s balanced by something grassy, almost like sotol and tequila had a baby. Long finish, with a touch of seawater and sour lemons clinging on. Quite fine, actually – a proper Scottish-Mexican drop that doesn’t try too hard. 🥃

Then there's this soft, almost creamy texture, not too heavy on the agave, which keeps it from being too mezcaly. A hint of white wine sweetness lingers, along with a touch of lemons and green olives. The finish is long, with notes of smoked kippers and grass smoke dancing around. It's like someone blended a fine Scottish dram with a splash of ex-reposado and a dash of Kools—it's oddly brilliant, really. Makes me think of a proper pub garden, with branches and roots in the background. Proper good.
