Dark amber in the glass, and honestly, water feels superfluous at first. I get chocolate, wood varnish, liquorice, prunes and a bit of Kikkoman sauce turning into Chinese plum sauce. Quite a bomb, but oddly sober and rather elegant too. With a drop of water it opens nicely: cassis nectar, Nutella, ganache, blackcurrants, raisins, a touch of garden peat and gravel. More a ride than malt whisky, really. What a ride! Medium finish, bit of tobacco hanging about 😊
