Springbank Distillery, founded in 1828 in Campbeltown, Scotland, stands as one of Scotland's oldest and most revered independent whisky producers. As one of only three remaining distilleries in Campbeltown—the once-prolific "Whisky Capital of the World"—Springbank is unique in performing every step of production on-site: traditional floor malting, distillation, maturation, and bottling. The distillery remains family-owned by the Mitchell family, operating continuously except for brief periods during the 1970s-80s. Springbank produces three distinct malt styles: the namesake Springbank (lightly peated, 2.5 times distilled), Longrow (heavily peated, double distilled), and Hazelburn (unpeated, triple distilled). Known for its artisanal approach, direct-fired stills, and exceptional quality, Springbank has achieved cult status among whisky connoisseurs worldwide, with limited releases commanding significant attention and premium prices.

Wow, okay. This one’s got a stunning purity and body. Getting this raw wool and grist note right off the bat, very distillery-feel. The finish is long and vertical, just, well, yes, lemons. All things lemons taking over, really. It’s a tad dirtier than the LB, I reckon, with a bit of a genever vibe sneaking in. There’s chalk and clay, more mineral than I remember. Feels different this time, like the new Local Barley was just a distraction before. Now it’s all about this exceptional sourdough, leaven bread character. It’s a notch more fermentary, with yoghurt and sour cream on the mid-palate. A tad fatter than some, with the white wine and white beers notes still there. So much chalk. Another perfect blade. That extra 3.4% vol really gives it a chiselled edge. Same whisky, just… louder. 🤔

Well, quite a ride this one. First off, got this ashy, carbon dust vibe in there, like an old fireplace almost. Then suddenly, lemons just take over the whole thing – and I mean all things lemons. 🍋 It's got this sharp, almost fizzy quality to it, reminds me of a crisp white beer or a dry white wine, but dirtier somehow. There's a lot of chalk in the texture, and a bit of sour cream funkiness in the background. Honestly, it's quite chiselled and pure, with a stunning body to it. Tastes a bit like a fino sherry crossed with a genever. There's this fermentary note that hangs about too. Makes me think the new Local Barley was just a distraction from this kind of craft. It's the same whisky, just… well, yes, lemons. Another perfect blade in the end.

Warm and cosy dram 🥃 I get soft oak, honey, a bit of vanilla and dried fruit. There’s a gentle spice at the end, not too shouty, just nicely warming. Feels like a quiet evening by the fire, tbh.

Ah, right, so this one’s got that lovely deep amber colour, innit? 🥃 First whiff, loads of honey and baked apples – proper autumnal feel. Then a bit of spice comes through, like cinnamon and a hint of nutmeg. Quite inviting, really. On the tongue, it’s proper smoothh, almost creamy. Get that sweet fruitiness again, maybe some orange peel? And then there’s this gentle warmth, not harsh at all, more like a cozy blanket for your throat. 🍯 Finish lingers nicely, a touch of dark chocolate and a whisper of oak. Leaves you with a warm, contented glow. 😊 Just feels... comforting. A proper winter dram, that.

Oh wow, this one’s got a real smoky kick, bit like a bonfire on the beach 🌊 Then it sorta mellows out, kinda sweet an’ fruity? Think ripe pears maybe 🍐 Finish is long, got that warm, spicy thing goin’ on… cinnamon or nutmeg? 🤔 Aye, good dram for a cold night.
