Just had a dram that absolutely blowed me away 🤯 First you get that bright coastal lemony zing, like lemon caviar popping on the tongue, propah fresh Then those sharp bitter notes from grapefruit skins come through, proper punchy Underneath it’s pretty herbaceous, not too strong at all Tiniest hint of medicinal notes, like that Fernet-Branca my mate swears by, even a faint whiff of bandages? Proper odd but fits so well Sweet orgeat balances the bitter out perfectly, no clash at all Weirdly it picks up that delicate high-end Chinese green tea vibe? Sounds mad but it works so well The coastal vibes keep going with briny oyster and seaweed whispers, super interesting Reminds me a bit of those old-school bitter liqueurs, citrus liqueurs and cordials my grandad used to keep in his cabinet Got proper oomph and power, but it’s still extremely refined, very elegant Finish is long, has that same dry edge as good dry white vermouths, leaves a hint of perfect maraschino and amaretti on the tongue Even a tiny camphor edge at the very back, not overpowering at all Colour’s like liquid gold too, gorgeous All in all it’s complex as anything, not a tired old cask at all, fantastic dram honestly 🥃
