Had a quick dram after work and the nose hit me like a punch of roasted nuts mixed with something floral – think peonies and a hint of cardamom. There’s a whiff of tobacco, a few different kinds, that sits behind a sweet, almost marmalade glow. The 43% heat is there but not overwhelming, just a little bold, and the Moscatel side of it took over pretty quickly, giving it a very sweet, almost Pedro Ximénez vibe. On the palate the raisins start to run the show, while a touch of dried ham‑jerky‑style savory pops up and caraway sneaks in near the end. It’s definitely multidimensional, a bit like that Macallan trick where the sweetness can feel a touch blocking, but still nice for sure. Funny enough, it gave me the same feeling as missing a fino or a manzanilla after a long day – a surprising, comforting little escape. 😊

Wow, that nose! 🌹 Cherry liqueur and moscatel jumping right out. Tasting it, super sweet – raisins and Pedro Ximenez really run the show. Dried ham and beef jerky add a savoury touch, but a bit too sweet for me. Spices like cardamom and caraway peek through. Complex and multidimensional, for sure. At 43%, it's just nice but rather blocking. Moscatel seizes control for good. Bold, with that classic aged sherry trick. Roasted nuts on the finish. NAS triple cask, I think. Gives the same feeling as other rich drams, but the sweetness tends to dominate. 😅

Just tried a NAS Triple Cask, definitely quite complex. Has that classic Macallan trick of layers... peonies and several kinds of tobacco pop up first, nice for sure. Roasted nuts come through too. It’s rather a little bold, but moscatel seems to have seized control – a bit too sweet for me honestly. Missing a fino or manzanilla crispness to balance things. Dried ham and beef jerky notes sneak in later alongside caraway... oloroso influence is there, blocking things slightly? 🤔 Still, nice for a sip, just wouldn’t be my everyday pour.

Right so this one came across as very sweet, almost like cherry liqueur mixed with marmalade tbh. There's tobacco in there too - not just one kind, several types if that makes sense? And a bit of caraway sneaking in which is quite nice. At 43% it's not exactly light but rather a little bold for my usual taste. Getting some dried ham and beef jerky vibes which is interesting, not something you get every day. It's multidimensional for sure, nice for sure, but there's something about it that's rather 'blocking' - like it fills your whole mouth and doesn't leave room for much else? Can't help feeling I'm missing a fino or manzanilla freshness to cut through all that richness. Same feeling I get with heavily sherried whiskies sometimes - lovely stuff but almost too much of a good thing. Would probably be ace with a proper cigar though 🥃

Bit of honey and dried fruit at first, then a wee touch of spice and oak. Feels warm, smooth-ish, with a cosy malty finish 🥃 Quite nice for a slow evening, not too fussy.
