Tried this dram last night and it hit me with this bright, almost blade-y citrus punch right off the bat – proper lime and green apple notes dancing about, more citrusy again than I expected. The nose was like a whole fruit salad in there, rhubarb and banana skin adding a sweet-tart edge. Not quite in the style of the glorious old 70s malts, but the quality remained pretty high, and it’s a simple, honest Speysider that doesn’t muck about. Finish had this chalky, green barley thing going on, clean and crisp. Proper good, if a bit cheeky with the citrus. 🥃

Caught a well-made dram tonight, quite sharp on the nose with a proper punch of rhubarb upfront. The citrus is rather more citrus than usual, but then it starts hesitating between citrus and green apples and pears—like someone's tossed a whole fruit salad in there. Medium bodied, carries that orchardy fruitiness through nicely, though. Quality remained pretty high, no question. Simple enough, but rather satisfying. More citrusy again on the finish, leaves you thinking of banana skin and chalk for some reason. Not quite the 1972s legendary stuff, but still a very fine fruity Speysider. 🍏

The finish is a bit narrow though, a bit blade-y. It dances between citrus and these green fruits, never quite settling. Not a bad thing, just... hesitating. Like it can't decide if it wants to be lemony or appley. Doesn't have that big, bold character of the old classics, mind you. More of a delicate, chalky fruitiness. Speyside through and through.
