I just poured a dram and damn, it hit me straight away. There's this old fabric on the beach vibe—salty, weathered, like seaweed clinging to driftwood. Then come the Parisian croissants, all buttery and sweet, but wait—it’s not as long in the finish. More like burnt caramel melting into damp old cardboard boxes. The smoke’s there, but it’s mineral smoke, not peaty. Reminds me of a pile of coal near a garden centre, mixed with hay and bitter grasses. Oh, and that farminess—wet dogs and manure in the background. Weird, but it works. Sweetness rolls in next, almost like cranberry juice, but then cardamom spices things up. Roundness follows, soft but not too polished. Got that Ardbeg-like punch of grassier smokiness, though. Grand whisky, this one—Brora through and through. Made me think of my grandad’s shed, if it were filled with fertilizers and old books. Definitely an instant hit, though I’d swap the tear gas note for more of that coastal warmth.

Aye, this one’s a right head-turner. First sniff hits you with this sweet, almost syrupy warmth—like someone’s baked a tray of Parisian croissants and left the window open. But then it goes all austere, with this sharp, smoky edge that’s not as heavy as some of the old peat monsters. The smoke’s got a farmyardy sort of vibe, kind of like sniffing around a garden centre after rain, or maybe a damp old barn. There’s a hint of cardamom in there too, spicy but not overpowering. On the tongue, it’s this lovely dance between sweetness and something wilder—think burnt caramel tangled with bitter tobacco and a splash of cranberry juice. The peat level’s definitely lower than I’d expect, but it makes up for it with this mineral smoke that lingers like you’ve licked a battery. Halfway through, a wave of salt crashes in, proper coastal stuff, and I’m transported to a windswept beach with old fishing nets and seaweed. The finish is where it gets interesting—there’s a touch of that "tear gas" bite, sharp and cleansing, but it rounds off into this smooth, honeyed hay note. Not as long as a ’72 dram, mind you, but it’s got that grand whisky character, the sort that makes you sit up straighter. If I had to guess, it’s somewhere between a well-Brora and Ardbeg—smoky, but with a bit more polish and less farm-yard chaos. Solid gold, this one.

Just poured a cheeky dram of this absolute gold 🥃 and it’s an instant hit for me tbh. On the nose, you get this proper costal salt and a grassier smokiness. It’s quite austere at first... literally smells like a wet garden centre. You get damp old cardboard boxes, cut plants, and honestly, a bit of wet dogs and fertilizers too 🐕 But it genuinely works! Having a sip, there's a lovely roundness to it. Starts off with a nice sweetness, reminding me of Parisian croissants with a splash of cranberry juice, before moving into burnt caramel and cardamom polish. Then that farminess takes over—manure, hay, fresh grass, and bitter tobacco. The smoke is definetly a farmier smoke, more like a pile of coal and mineral smoke rather than a huge peat bomb (feels like a lower peat level here). It finishes on bitter grasses and something that smells just like an old fabric on the beach. The finish is not as long as I’d hoped, but still a truly grand whisky. Cheers mates! 🌾💨

Quite a cosy dram, really. Bit of honey, toasted oak and a soft spicey warmth 🥃 Feels smooth, mellow, and just right for a slow evening.
