Oh, this one's got a real colour to it – like old gold, almost like a strip of beeswax. First thing on the nose is this lovely, soft resinous smokiness, like driftwood on a fire, mixed with some herbs – got a bit of rosemary and sage in there. There's a hint of that salty mead and some honey, too. The palate is… wow. It’s got this fantastic, syrupy, peaty quality that's really well integrated. I get salted nuts – almonds and pistachios – some lemon wax, and a touch of that citronella candle wax. There's a real depth to it, almost like a thick mineral oil or olive oil coating the mouth. The herbal notes come through stronger here, and there's this interesting hint of mint flavoured cough medicine and a slight petrolic edge. It finishes incredibly long, with a lingering brine and tar quality, like the memory of peat smoke and farmyard on a moorland. Harmoniously complex and elegant, as they say. Just a brilliant, savoury dram. 🥃
