Blanton's is the pioneering single barrel bourbon brand that ignited the premium American whiskey renaissance. Launched in 1984 by legendary Master Distiller Emeritus Elmer T. Lee, it honors former distillery president Colonel Albert B. Blanton, who personally selected "honey barrels" for distinguished guests. Each bottle is drawn from an individual aging barrel without blending, making every batch unique. The brand is distinguished by its iconic round bottle, collectible horse and jockey stoppers (featuring 8 different letters that spell "BLANTONS"), and exceptional quality. Produced at the award-winning Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, Blanton's created the single barrel category and remains the global benchmark for premium bourbon. The whiskey typically features rich notes of caramel, vanilla, honey, and citrus with a smooth, complex finish.

Well, that first sip hits with a bit of peanut butter right up front... then, blimey, it just dries right out. Horribly dry, and drying. All I'm getting is wood, like someone bottled oak juice or something. 😬 I think there's a hint of stewed pineapple in there, but it's completely smothered by that oak. Way, way too oaky for me. No, it's just... unpleasant. What a nightmare, honestly. The whole thing feels like a golden ticket that's horrendously oaky. Not for us, indeed. It's all woods and nuts, on a spirit that's quite soft and shy, maybe even a bit thin. Leaves me feeling a bit down, like, sob, I'm a failure at this tasting lark! I am definitely not a ‘discerning bourbon aficionado’. Tastes like a Saturday afternoon trapped in Ikea’s kitchen section – what a nightmare indeed. 😅 Other single barrels I've tried have been much nicer in my book.

Warm and a bit sweet at first, with a soft smoky edge 🥃 I get dried fruit, oak, and a wee spicy kick near the end. Feels cosy, like a rainy evening dram. Nice and easy to sit with 🙂

Warm and woody, with a soft honey bit and a wee touch of spice. Feels cosy rather than flashy 🥃 Bit oaky at the end, nice slow warmth.

Blimey, first sip hits like a warm caramel biscuit dunked in a cuppa ☕️🍯 Then this cheeky little wave of orchard fruit – think baked apple & a whisper of pear – rolls in Finish is proper cosy, like sitting by a fire with a slice of Christmas cake… that gentle spice just clings on 🎄🔥 Bit of dark toffee and a nutty, almost maple-y vibe lingers. Mouthfeel’s creamy, casi velvety, honestly. ……and then theres a tiny puff of oak smoke right at the back. not harsh at all, just enough to make u smile. Lovely dram for a rainy afternoon. 😌🥃
