Just had a dram that hit me with superbly fatty and salty vibes, like a handful of salted almonds and a splash of lemon jelly. There’s a rising coastal note, hints of beach pebbles and white flowers, plus a soft waxy feel that lingers. A wee touch of gooseberry and rosewater pops up as it opens, finishing dry with a mineral edge. 😊

Mmm, this one’s a right mood. First sip hits with this sharp lime jelly and gooseberry tang, like biting into a sour stone fruit. But then it settles into something more coastal—imagine licking a wet beach pebble dipped in salt, superbly fatty and salty. There’s a strange, almost metallic edge, like old tool boxes left in the rain, mixed with these soft waxes and hessian texture. Over time, it gets more citrusy, brighter, with hints of mango stones and cashews lingering. The finish? Dry and waxy, like licking a candle, but there’s something oddly comforting about it. Not too heavy on the nose—white flowers, maybe rosewater—but the aftertaste sneaks up with mineral notes and a touch of hay loft. Lovely! Though it does feel a tad on the soft side at times, like sipping through a veil. Still, it’s got character. 🥃

Nose opens with this sharp, almost engine grease tang, but then it’s like someone’s cracked open a box of old toolboxes by the sea. Mineral notes hit you first, then beach pebbles and this strange whiff of carbon paper. But wait—there’s a fruit basket hiding in there. Gooseberry and quince paste, maybe even a bit of mirabelle eau de vie. Hints of bay leaf and white flowers keep it interesting. On the tongue, it’s superbly fatty and salty, like someone’s spilled a packet of salted almonds into a hay loft. The lemon jelly and lime jelly give it this bright, waxy kick, but then soft waxes and rosewater mellow things out. Tertiary notes of cashews and stock linger, not too heavy. Finish? Dry as sack cloth at first, but then it rounds out with more citrus, a touch of gold, and this weirdly satisfying hint of soot. Sometimes it’s a tad on the soft side, but that’s okay—it’s like sipping from a glass lined with lamp oil and stone fruits. Lovely stuff, really. Makes me think of cracking open a dusty crate in a coastal shed and finding treasure.

Blimey, that first whiff took me straight to a seaside workshop. All engine grease and old toolboxes, but then this lovely wave of salted almonds and a hint of something like lime jelly. Very waxy, almost like smelling a new leather briefcase. On the palate, it’s wonderfully dry and mineral, like sucking on smooth beach pebbles. That coastal saltiness is right there, with loads of salty peanuts and cashews coming through. Underneath, there’s this subtle, really sophisticated complexity – a touch of gooseberry and stone fruit, maybe a whisper of rosewater. The finish has that interesting lamp oil and hessian quality, and it lasts a good while. 🤔 Honestly, it’s a bit soft in places, but it makes up for it with all these layers. You don’t get a monster dram, but you get one that makes you think. Proper stuff. 👍

Right, so I've been nursing this dram for a good half hour now. Gorgeous gold colour in the glass, really inviting. Nosing it gives me this lovely hay loft vibe, mixed with a bit of old tool boxes and something waxy. There's subtle mango notes hiding underneath, maybe a touch of rosewater if I really get my nose in there. Reminds me of that sun-dried hessian smell from the garden shed. First sip... oh this is beautifully layered. Stone fruits come through, some lemon jelly, and that gooseberry tartness is really nice. There's a definite coastal, salty thing going on — like beach pebbles warmed in the sun. A bit of soot and lamp oil giving it depth, almost industrial in a good way? Old metal polish and carbon paper type of vibe. As it opens up, more citrusy with time which I love. Getting cashews and salted almonds, even a hint of white mushrooms which is unexpected but works. The finish is medium-long, with these wonderful tertiary notes developing — quince paste, bay leaf, and that superbly fatty and salty character. It's a tad on the soft side at times honestly, but it absolutely compensates with excellent complexity and subtlety. 👌 Really lovely stuff this.
