Just poured myself a measure of this last night and it’s a proper curious one, innit? 🥃 First the colour’s that pale straw, easy on the eye. It’s got an interesting nose, all over the place in the best way – on lime and grapefruits right off the bat, some mint as well, geranium, aromatic herbs that almost give it a Scottish mojito vibe, wild. Then you get vanilla, touches of cane sugar, and weirdly a little bread note? Usually bread goes away with age, so that’s a surprise. Well there again the oak’s got a little too loud for my liking, plus a tiny hit of little varnish and paraffin is back too, not bad just unexpected. On the palate you’ve got all the zesty fruits, passion fruits, mangos, green melon, more vibrant again after that first odd kick, finishes quite long, some chocolate in the aftertaste, maybe touches of lavender too? It’s a very fine dram, very very fine, just a bit strange, and probably less focused than those beautiful 1977 and 1976 I’ve had before. Still having a little trouble after those vintages, but it’s quite unusual, not just at Convalmore’s either for that peculiar note.

Had a very fine dram tonight – pale straw colour, interesting nose of lavender and zesty fruits, a touch of cane sugar and green melon. First sip gave vanilla and mint, then chocolate in the aftertaste lingered. A hint of paraffin and varnish popped up, strange – usually the bread note fades with age but here it stayed a little. Bit of passion fruit and mango vibes, more vibrant than usual, though the oak felt a tad loud. All in all, quite unusual but enjoyable. 😊

This one’s a bit pale straw in colour, not as focused as those cracking 77s and 76s I’ve had. Nose is all mangos and passion fruits upfront, with mint and aromatic herbs dancing around. There’s geranium in there too, maybe even a hint of lavender. Oak’s a tad loud, but the lime and grapefruits keep things zesty. A bit strange, though – some cane sugar and chocolate linger in the aftertaste, even a touch of varnish. Not sure if bread usually sticks around like this with age, but it’s adding something. Finish is quite long, more vibrant again, but honestly? It’s struggling a bit after the legends from '77 and '76. Still, a very fine dram – like a Scottish mojito with a twist. Interesting, if a little off-kilter. 🥃

Right, first sip hits a sweet touch of cane sugar, then mangos and a bright zing on lime and grapefruits, with a hint of vanilla and mint that feels like a Scottish mojito 🍹. There’s a subtle bread note, a whisper of chocolate in the aftertaste, and a faint geranium‑lavender edge with a little varnish. It’s very, very fine and surprisingly vibrant again, pale straw colour, a bit strange but oddly pleasant 😊

Right, so this one's a bit unusual really. Getting loads of zesty fruits at first - grapefruits and passion fruits, quite vibrant stuff. Then there's this Scottish mojito vibe going on, mint and aromatic herbs with a touch of vanilla underneath. The paraffin note comes back after a while, bit of geranium too which is interesting. Some chocolate sneaks in towards the finish, quite long actually. Oak's a touch loud for my taste but overall it's a very, very fine dram. Not the most focused I've had but more vibrant again as it opens up. Really quite unusual in the best way 😊
