Had a dram that felt a bit rough around the edges, like sweet chilli sauce meeting orange and caramel liqueur, with a hint of honeydew and a weird earthy root note. The aftertaste lingered with herbs and a touch of coriander, kinda like a bizarre dram but oddly pleasant. Not a racing whisky, more like a slow, thoughtful sip. Jury's still out on whether I'd reach for it again, but it's definitely worth a try. 😊

Poured a glass of this full gold beauty tonight. Blimey, it's a bit of a bizarre dram. At first, it's very unusual in its roughness, almost like soot and wax polish mixed with damp earth and roots. But then this unusual but very pleasant fruitiness kicks in—think apple peelings, honeydew, and even litchis. It definitely feels like a good sherry cask doing all the talking, bringing out notes of bitter oranges, caramel liqueur, and a bit of speculoos. There's even a weird touch of sweet chilli sauce and coriander. It's not a racing whisky, you need to sit with it. The finish is long, more complex, with some herbs in the aftertaste. The jury's still out for me, but the sheer unusualness makes it worth trying. 🥃

Poured myself a dram last night – lovely full gold colour. Took a sniff and got honeydew and something herbal, like coriander in the aftertaste. Sipping it, there’s sherry sweetness mixed with orange and caramel liqueurs, but also this earthiness, a bit like walnut liqueur and soot and wax polish. Bizarre dram, not a racing whisky at all! Very unusual in its roughness. 😊 Then I caught apple peelings and bitter oranges, even a hint of sweet chilli sauce weirdly. Finish was long, more complex, with litchis and longans coming through. The cask does all the talking, good sherry cask influence. Jury’s still out on this one – reminds me of Bailey’s and gentian eau-de-vie, but earth and roots keep it grounded. Worth trying for the unusualness!

This one's a real oddball... First sip, I get these apple peelings and something herbal hanging around in the aftertaste. It's not a racing whisky, that's for sure – it's longer, more complex. Funny, it reminds me a bit of Bailey's mixed with walnut liqueur, maybe a dash of those orange and caramel liqueurs. There's even a hint of sweet chilli sauce! 🤯 After that, some honeydew comes through. The unusualness makes it worth trying, honestly. It's very unusual in its roughness, with a definite sherry backbone and this earthiness... like soot and wax polish. Bitter oranges pop up too, giving an unusual but very pleasant fruitiness. Dig deeper and you find earth and roots. Feels like the cask does all the talking here, maybe a good sherry cask. I'm even picking up litchis and longans – bizarre dram! There's something gentian-like, even a hint of coriander. Full gold in the glass, and it's just... different. 🤷

Well, that first sip’s got a real ruggedness to it, not smooth at all, but then this lovely, unexpected fruity thing comes through. The colour’s a full gold, and it’s not a dram that rushes you – very much a cask-driven experience. Getting a lot of sherry, almost like a hint of Bailey’s, with some apple peelings. It becomes longer and more complex as it sits, conjuring up speculoos biscuits and a bit of walnut liqueur. There’s a gentian eau-de-vie sort of vibe. It’s a good sherry cask alright, bringing that earth and roots feeling. Oddly, I also get a flash of sweet chilli sauce, and there’s a rubbery thing some Auchroisks have. Then it’s orange and caramel liqueurs. The unusualness really does make it worth trying. More sips bring bitter oranges and a general earthiness, then, weirdly, litchis and longans, and a hint of honeydew. A bizarre dram. I’m picking up coriander and some herbs in the aftertaste, with soot and wax polish lingering. The jury’s still out on whether I love it or just find it fascinating, but it’s certainly an experience! 🤔
