Then it shifts into these smoked tea notes and a touch of liquorice, almost like sniffing old books in a dusty library. Very curious arrival on sage, genuinely wasn't expecting that. There's something quite vegetal and earthy going on underneath, reminds me of walking through a field of hay on a summer afternoon. A hint of fir honey sweetness creeps in, which balances nicely against this odd drop of fish oil I keep picking up. The middle gets really interesting – butter and garlic, maybe a nod to clams in white wine? Bit of blond tobacco and papaya too, which is a combo I've not encountered before. Tarragon and aniseed pop up here and there, quite herbal. Notes of pinewood and linden come through toward the end, and there's definitely a salty, coastal character I'm enjoying.
