Littlemill is widely regarded as potentially Scotland's oldest licensed malt whisky distillery, with origins tracing back to the 1750s. Officially established in 1772 by Glasgow merchant George Buchanan following his acquisition of the Auchterlonie estate, the distillery occupied a strategic location between the River Clyde and the main railway line, adjacent to Bowling railway station. Though the distillery ceased operations in 1994 and was tragically destroyed by fire in 2004, its rare remaining stocks have become highly coveted collector's items. The official bottling, a 27-year-old expression released in Summer 2017, represents one of the final opportunities to experience this historic Lowland single malt. Independent bottler Hunter Laing has also released several notable expressions, including a 24-year-old 'Pearls of Scotland' distilled in 1991 and a 27-year-old distilled in 1988, both showcasing the distillery's characteristic delicate, floral profile.

Right, poured myself a dram and honestly... it's quite a ride. First thing I get is cinnamon and ginger, sort of warming, then boom – all these fruits. Kiwi, pineapple, passion fruits (maybe a tad overripe?), grapefruits... almost reminds me of a pina colada, no joke 🍍 There's grass and grains in there too, and something like dry tea or white wine – a bit fragile and odd, but I don't mind it. Oak's fairly strong, got some coconut and a wee earthy touch. Lemon and salt on the tongue. Barely 40% but good body actually. Cocoa powder comes through as well – sweet Vishnu, what a combo 😅 Fruits are still there in the aftertaste which is nice. Almost a miracle it works together, but somehow it does.

Ah, this dram's got a lovely fruity nose, appley and sweet 🍎. The palate is smooth with a bit of honey and some smokiness in the back, kinda like a cozy fireplace. Finish is warm and lingers nicely. Really enjoyin' it! 😊🥃

Proper nice dram this one 💯. Smell’s a wee bit peaty but goes down real smooth. Has a hint o’ honey and toffee on the palate, bit of spice at the end. Finish lingers nice & warm. Would buy agin for sure. Cheers! 🥃✨
