Quite a pale straw colour, smells of oatcakes and a hint of dried mint, with fruity aspects and a touch of citrus pith. On the palate it’s rather drier, like toasted seeds and trail mix, with a wee bit of herbal edge. Finishes with an elegant length, feeling a bit more ‘ideological’ than usual. 😊

Got a dram tonight, a bit less extravagant than I usually go for but still lovely. The nose is honeyed with hints of sweet wine, almost identical to a light white wine I once sipped at a garden party. On the palate there’s a creamy custard feel, a faint salty touch and a chalkier edge that reminds me of a good cognac. It’s very similar to the one I tried last month, just a touch less Irish in the finish. Ends on a medium, mellow length 😊

这家伙简直像嚼了一把麦片，干巴巴的，还带点稻草味儿。头一口像刚烤好的面包皮，有点粗粝，但后劲儿来了就变得有点油润，像轻柔的橄榄油在舌尖打转。柠檬皮那股子青涩劲儿冲得有点猛，像嚼了点苦柠檬皮，但又不讨厌，反而有点刺激。 后段有点像干了杯果味清酒，带点酸酸的醋栗和柑橘皮的余韵，尾巴有点干，像嚼了几片烤过的种子，嚼劲儿十足。整体有点清瘦，但不寒酸，反而挺耐品的，像单一麦芽就该有的样子。最后那丝薄荷干的清凉感，让人回味一下。 🍋

这杯闻起来有淡淡的爽身粉和麦芽浆的香气，带点白色水果的甜感，但整体很干。 第一口像是咬了一口烤得正好的吐司，麦芽味道很足。接着浮现出一些酸醋栗和苦柠檬皮的味道，让整个感觉变得清爽又有点锐利，确实比23年的那款更干涩一些，但骨子里的优雅还在。 回味很长，留在嘴里的是朴素的谷物和一丝青草清新感，收尾有点微微的苦味，但很舒服。整体更“收敛”一点，但细细品又能发现丰富的层次，很有意思。 🥃

Gave this single cask a try last night. You can tell the refill wood and time have really worked together here. First impression is quite direct and singular. Rather drier than I expected, with that pale straw colour. Getting a lot of cereal upfront – plain dry cereals, almost like oatcakes. There’s a bit of light olive oil texture too. Then the fruit comes through, but it’s not your usual sweet stuff. More bitter fruit qualities, tart gooseberry, and some bitter lemon. Quite a bit of citrus piths, and a wee touch of lemon peel. Not overpowering, very light overall. Funny, there’s a note of talcum powder and scented waxes in there. Also picking up something like dried mint and a hint of citronella. Trail mix with the nuts and dried fruit, maybe? It’s rather austere in profile, but in a good way. Plain malt base, very cereal-driven. Feels a bit like it’s in ‘eau de vie’ territories, especially with those white fruits. Quite different from the 23yo, more ‘ideological’ I’d say, less generous. Pretty smart to bottle this one as a single cask. Enjoyable in its own, subtle way. 👍
