Whiskyspace Notes 2280

Just poured a dram and got a whiff of raw wool and chalk, almost like walking through a damp quarry after rain. There’s a bright zing of orange drops and lemon zest, mingling with the sweet note of fresh baked bread and a hint of cider apples. Mid‑palate brings a touch of weissen beer‑like fizz and a subtle agave syrup sweetness, then finishes with grassy aftertaste and a faint whisper of white wine. Feels a bit austere yet comforting, like a woolly blanket on a chilly evening. 🥃

Got a pour last night and honestly, it’s such a fun, messy mix of flavours. First you get that hit of sweeter apples, almost like you’re biting into a crisp one straight off the tree, then a little tang of lemons and the soft fizz of weissen beer right after. There’s this rich good sweet malt backbone that ties it all together, plus tiny little notes of bananas that pop out of nowhere, super surprising. It’s got that fat and mineral spirit kick too, not harsh at all, just that warm, heavy weight you want in a dram. Also random little hints of muscovado sugar, like you’re licking a caramelised sugar cube, and even a faint earthy beetiness? Weird but nice. The finish is medium, leaves a little hint of raw wool and sweet bread on the tongue, super cozy. Oh and there’s a little white wine zing in the back too, cuts through all the sweetness just right. Noice little pour, totally weird but so drinkable 🥃

Right, this one's a bit of a journey. First whiff is like crushing up some apple peelings with a bit of lemon zest 🍋. Then there's this lovely, sweeter apple thing, maybe golden delicious. The palate's got a lovely, good sweet malt base, almost like sweet bread. But then there's this fat and mineral spirit quality that comes through, really interesting. Hints of earthy touches and even some beets, which is unexpected. It reminds me a little of a sweet beer, almost gueuze-style, with a touch of weissen beer in there too. There's some muscovado sugar sweetness right at the end, and just a flash of white wine crispness. Finish is medium, leaving a memory of chalk and just a tiny bit of paraffin. Quite a characterful sip. 🥃
