Whiskyspace Notes 2355

Took a sip and the colour was a medium amber, looked promising. First hit was quite leathery, with a camphory note that’s oddly herbal. Then the flavors came through – meaty, maltier than I expected, with this extra-complex profile. There’s a peppery kick and some burnt sugar sweetness, reminds me of a bonfire. The pipe tobacco and roasted nuts give it a smoky, nutty depth. Dried figs and smoky raisins add some fruitiness, but then there’s this green pepper in the aftertaste that’s a bit strange. Not sure if I like it, bit disappointed really. Still, it’s rather good whisky, just a bit monolithic in one direction. Grass and green elements pop up somewhere in there too, almost like munching on a hedgerow. 🥃
