Whiskyspace Notes 2355

Took a sip and the colour was a medium amber, looked promising. First hit was quite leathery, with a camphory note that’s oddly herbal. Then the flavors came through – meaty, maltier than I expected, with this extra-complex profile. There’s a peppery kick and some burnt sugar sweetness, reminds me of a bonfire. The pipe tobacco and roasted nuts give it a smoky, nutty depth. Dried figs and smoky raisins add some fruitiness, but then there’s this green pepper in the aftertaste that’s a bit strange. Not sure if I like it, bit disappointed really. Still, it’s rather good whisky, just a bit monolithic in one direction. Grass and green elements pop up somewhere in there too, almost like munching on a hedgerow. 🥃

This dram's got a proper leathery arrival, sort of coats the tongue like old library books. Then it opens up with dried figs and smoky raisins, proper sherry-soaked stuff. There's a weird camphory edge and burnt sugar sweetness, reminds me of roasted nuts. Mid-palate goes maltier, focused—like someone's nailed the recipe—but the finish leaves this green pepper sting that's a bit sharp. Amber to full gold in the glass, looks the part. I'm not disappointed exactly, but it's a bit monolithic, everything kind of fell in line without much surprise. Still, decent for a quiet evening. 🥃

Just tried this whisky – colour’s a full gold, turning amber in the light. Nose is leathery arrival with pipe tobacco and smoky raisins, hints of sherry too. First taste: extra-complex, meaty notes, oaked plum spirit, quince jelly, dried figs, and roasted nuts. Maltier on the palate, medium body, kind of monolithic but focused. Aftertaste though, green pepper kicks in, peppery and green, which left me a bit disappointed. It kind of fell in line, but that camphory touch and grassy edge didn’t quite sit right. 🥃

Wow, this one's a bit of a journey. 😊 The amber color is lovely, and the arrival has a leathery quality. I get smoky raisins and dried figs right away. It's medium-bodied, I think, and quite maltier than I expected, with hints of burnt sugar and oaked plum spirit. The pipe tobacco note comes through, and there's a camphory edge. I was kind of disappointed at first – it felt a bit monolithic and green. But as it opened up, the extra-complex layers started to emerge. The quince jelly adds a sweet touch, and the peppery finish with a green pepper aftertaste is interesting. Overall, it's focused but not my favorite. 🤔 It kind of fell in line after a while, you know?
