God, this dram’s a proper sherry monster – that rich, syrupy oloroso hits you first, like liquid Christmas cake soaked in antique wood. There’s this gorgeous sweetness, think strawberry jam and plum pie, but it’s not cloying. Hints of chestnut purée and those hazelnut liqueurs the Italians do so well mingle in there, maybe a touch of cocoa too. No vanilla or coconut nonsense here, just proper old-school sherry depth. On the palate, it’s all about that concentrated sherry again – dried fruits, maybe some raisins and a whisper of Ethiopian coffee. And bizarrely, I’m getting this Spanish ham thing? Not the taste, obviously, but that leathery, gamey quality lingers after the sweetness fades. It’s proper beefy-meaty at points, like you’ve just popped a handful of very old walnuts in your mouth. The finish is medium-long, with this waxy polish and sandalwood warmth. You’d swear it’s an old Glen Grant or something similarly sherried, but there’s almost no grain whisky character – it’s all about the cask, honestly. Antique but lively, like a dusty bookshelf that still smells fresh. Proper excellent, this one. 🥃

Just tried this – leathery and gamy, honestly like Spanish ham! Topped with high-end chocolate and a whiff of pine resin, similar to cough drops. The palate brings fruity old sherry, and I really can't pick out the grain. It's 'our' vintage, with cocoa, very concentrated sherry, and blackberry jam. Hints of chestnut purée in there, highly fortified old dry oloroso vibe. So very excellent! The sherry is big yet subtle, Ethiopian coffee mocha and wax polish notes. Reminds me of plum and cinnamon pie, sumptuous old precious wood. Chestnut and plain oloroso, no coconut or vanilla. Love it! 😊

Wow, this is… absolutely bonkers. Right off the nose, it’s like diving into a jar of various raisins and blackberry jam, but there’s this profound, fruity kind of old sherry on the palate that just coats everything. Seriously, the sherry influence is so big yet somehow remains so subtle. It’s not just sweet; it’s a deeply concentrated, highly fortified old dry oloroso character. I’m getting waves of plum and cinnamon pie, then high-end chocolate and a little cocoa. Then it shifts to more savory, nutty things—hints of chestnut purée, almost like a good hazelnut liqueur, and some very old walnuts. There’s a surprising note here I can’t quite place… is that Spanish ham? No, I’m not kidding! A little beefy, meaty thing after that. It’s completely impossible to detect this as a ‘grain’ whisky; it has these sumptuous notes of old precious wood and sandalwood, like an antique piece of furniture that’s been polished with wax polish. Yet it feels lively, almost fresh. A bit of pine resin, like old cough drops, and some Ethiopian mocha coffee grounds come through, with a leathery, gamy edge. There’s no coconut or vanilla here at all. The finish is medium long, lingering on those rich, fortified sherry and nut notes. Honestly, it’s very excellent. Almost no typical ‘whisky’ notes, which is wild. What a dram! 🥃

Honestly, this feels more like old dry oloroso than whisky at first 😄 Loads of mocha coffee, cocoa, raisins and blackberry jam, with a bit of chestnut purée. Quite leathery and savoury too, almost hammy in places, but still fresh somehow. No vanilla or coconut at all — more walnuts, sandalwood and a tiny pine cough-drop thing. Rich, dark, and proper sherried. 🥃

Lovely warm dram 🥃 I get soft vanilla, a bit of dried fruit, gentle spice and a wee smoky edge. Feels cosy, smooth-ish, with a nice oaky finish. Proper easy to sip on a chilly evening.
