Color of light gold in the glass. First sip is a rather spicy arrival, like ginger and caraway bread. Then it softens into something like coconut cream and maple syrup, with a hint of lavender floating around. But wow, the oak is really showing off. It starts as typical oak juice, then more and more oak gets in the way. Honestly, it’s frankly over-oaked to me, like chewing on sawdust soaked in over-infused tea. There’s a bitter cocoa note right at the end, and a ghost of spicy bread sprinkled with custard. Interesting, but all that wood dominates. 😅

Poured myself a dram tonight, first sip hit rather spicy actually — bit of ginger and cinnamon, quite punchy at first 🌶️ Then it mellowed into this odd mix of bitter cocoa and... pencil shavings? Odd but not bad. Got some coconut cream lurking underneath too which was nice. Honestly though, the oak just takes over as you go. Like drinking over-infused tea left sitting for hours. Loads of sawdust and pencil shavings, quite drying on the tongue. Really very oaky, borderline too much for me if I'm being frank. Had a moment where I caught some lavender and maple syrup which was lovely, but then more oak gets in the way again. Bit of caraway bread too, like rye toast. Finish was medium, very dry, almost gritty. Spicy bread sprinkled with custard came to mind oddly enough 😅 Not bad overall, just wish there was less wood influence honestly. The gold colour is pretty though, I'll give it that.

刚倒出来就闻到一股像古龙水似的香气,混着好重的肉桂味儿。喝下去有点柑橘的酸,还有点单宁带来的涩感,但酒体够厚,撑得住。 收尾的时候有丁香和红茶的味道,混着一点香草和果酱的甜。整体比上次喝到的那款要更圆润一些,没那么尖锐。 说真的,橡木味有点太突出了,我反而更喜欢那些果味和香料的味道。要是果味能再“跳”出来一点就更好了。🥃

Right, this dram's a nice gold colour, but the taste? Frankly over-oaked from the start. 👃 Spicy arrival with ginger and cinnamon, then sawdust and pencil shavings just dominate. Gets drier, reminding me of over-infused tea and Caraway bread, with a hint of lavender and bitter cocoa. More and more oak gets in the way, like typical oak juice. Honestly, it'd be better vatted this cask. 😅
