Right then, just poured a dram. The nose is really lovely, lots of heather honey and roasted nuts up front, maybe a touch of ginger cookies. 🍯 It's quite dry on the palate, which I do enjoy. There's some bitter chocolate and a proper kick of those spicy tones, a bit like sweet mustard sauce. It unfolds really nicely, getting into some pecan pie and a bit of green walnut. The finish has that dry, active oak and a hint of pipe tobacco. A little tad bitter at the very end, but in a good way, with some orange coming through. Medium body all around. Definitely a very good surprise! 👍

Gosh, poured myself a dram and it’s quite the dark gold colour in the glass. First thing that hits me is this very dry, nutty character – roasted pecans and walnuts, maybe even a hint of sesame oil. Quite impressed, didn't expect that. Then it unfolds very pleasantly... there’s a bit of active oak, some heather honey sweetness trying to come to the front, but mostly it's a nutty, bready thing. Like walnut wine and bread pudding had a baby. Got this pleasant bitter edge too, a bit like green walnuts or dark chocolate. Mid-palate gets a bit more lively – some ginger cookies, a touch of that orange citrus, and honestly some spicy tones that are quite uproarious. Really makes you sit up. The casks were exceptional indeed, you can tell. Finishes medium-length, staying very dry and bitter. Pipe tobacco, bitter chocolate, maybe a whisper of sweet mustard sauce? It's a bit of a beast – you have to like them dry and robust. But overall, very nice for sure. A pleasant surprise. Always something I enjoy in a dram like this. 🥃
