Whiskyspace Notes 1497

Oh, that first sip... it’s incredibly delicate, almost fragile. You get this lovely honeydew sweetness and white clover straight away, very fresh. Then it shifts. There’s a definite beeswax note, and what I can only describe as oak that’s broken down into something floral, like waxes and pollens. A bit of a nutty vibe comes through too – walnuts, maybe some almond and a hint of Brazil nut. It turns quite botanical after that. There’s a fir bud liqueur thing, and some fresh bark. A little menthol lingers, which is a surprise but not unwelcome. It feels fantastically unmodern, in a good way. The finish has a touch of bitters and that absinthe-like quality, balanced by a whisper of amaretti and barley syrup. Quite the journey.
