Had a dram tonight that reminded me of toasted pastries and a slice of rye bread, quite bready with a hint of burnt oak. There's a sweet ginger note, like gingery sweet curry, and a touch of roasted peanuts. A whisper of banana flambé and gold‑coloured honey. After 24 years to mature it feels smooth, with a new layer of aromas that pops like a fresh craft pour. I could quaff this one 🥃

Nosing this dram, I’m hit with this lovely bready character – think toasted pastries and rye bread fresh from the oven. There’s a real depth here, like someone’s been stewing a ginger sweet curry in the background. Twenty-four years of waiting shows, it’s got this rather long, silky finish that just lingers. On the palate, it’s all about balance. Less dough than you’d expect from a sherry cask, but more action from those small casks – the wood’s definitely been busy. Notes of bananas flambéed dance around with a hint of caraway liqueur, weirdly brilliant together. The better filtering gives it a clean edge, lets the spice come through without mucking up the texture. Excellent stuff. A new layer of aromas keeps unfolding – sometimes cake-like sweetness, sometimes that smoky steak on the BBQ vibe. Craft distillers have clearly had fun here, and it’s paid off. Really rather moreish. 🥃

Tried this young craft whisky – first sip, ginger and burnt oak hit me, kinda like steak on the BBQ with more cake. Says it took 24 years to mature, but I get notes of Polugar vodka, less doughy. Roasted peanuts and bitter oranges come through, nice cask. New layer of aromas, more action – I could quaff this one easily. Less cheese, quite bready, better filtering out the rough bits. Craft distillers with small casks, hints of caraway liqueur and gingery sweet curry. Rye notes, excellent! Finish rather long, lovely gingerbread, bananas flambéed, toasted pastries. Other breads too, but less porridge. 😊

Right, so this dram… first sniff is all vanilla and toffee, propper sweet like 🍮. Then on the palete there’s a bit of oak, some dried fruit (raisins maybe?), and just a whisp of smoke 💨. Finish sticks around, warm spice and a touch of caramel. Not a peat monster, just nicely balanced. Cracking wee sip, that. 🥃👌

Oh this one’s quite interesting, yeah? 🤔 A bit sweet upfront, think caramel and baked apples. Maybe some vanilla too. Then there’s a nice woody note, like old oak barrels. A wee touch of smoke at the back, not too overpowering. Finishes with a gentle spice. Quite pleasant overall! 👍 Would defo have another dram. 🥃
