Springbank Distillery, founded in 1828 in Campbeltown, Scotland, stands as one of Scotland's oldest and most revered independent whisky producers. As one of only three remaining distilleries in Campbeltown—the once-prolific "Whisky Capital of the World"—Springbank is unique in performing every step of production on-site: traditional floor malting, distillation, maturation, and bottling. The distillery remains family-owned by the Mitchell family, operating continuously except for brief periods during the 1970s-80s. Springbank produces three distinct malt styles: the namesake Springbank (lightly peated, 2.5 times distilled), Longrow (heavily peated, double distilled), and Hazelburn (unpeated, triple distilled). Known for its artisanal approach, direct-fired stills, and exceptional quality, Springbank has achieved cult status among whisky connoisseurs worldwide, with limited releases commanding significant attention and premium prices.

Just tried this dram – pretty blade-y, you know? It's bigger on the palate with a long finish, honestly extremely good. Simply extremely good! More floral with a hint of new natural leather, and less tarry than usual. I'm getting big mineral lemons and citrus, almost like beach sand and chalk. Two thirds bourbon influence, I think, with straw and a rather less dirty vibe. Lemon is perfect here – more lemon, even some salted porridge and oysters come through. There's a feeling of garage tools, and embrocations remind me of a leather shop in Turkey. Beeswax adds richness. It's lighter overall but rather more medicinal, like aspirin tablets in water with lemon juice and drops of honey and vanilla essence. More smoke as it opens up. Not massive, but a pure expression of Campbeltown barley style. Lots of love for this one! 🥃😊

Right, cracked this one open last night after work and honestly, it's quite something. First impression — very light, very pure. Like, unusually clean for this kind of whisky. Got this lovely lemon thing going on, almost medicinal in a way, but lemon is the star here. There's a bit of that beeswax too, almost like walking past a little leather shop on holiday somewhere warm. The sherry influence is subtle — maybe a third sherry, two thirds bourbon by the feel of it. Not massive, but it rounds things out nicely. Little bit of straw, some chalk and plaster notes, weirdly reminds me of garage tools sitting in the sun 🤷 On the palate it actually opens up bigger than expected. More smoke comes through, a bit of salt, like salted porridge if that makes sense? Some citrus kicking about. There's this floral quality too, very Springbank-esque if you know what I mean — extremely pure expression of that style. Finish is long, really long. Thin mints, maybe a touch of oyster brininess. A tiny bit blade-y in places but in a good way. Rather less dirty than some others I've tried. Honestly mate, it just cures you after a rough day. Lots of love went into this one, you can tell. Simply extremely good 👌

Feels bright and coastal — lemon, salt, sand and a bit of oyster shell 🌊 There’s a clean medicinal thing, like aspirin in lemon water with a tiny drop of honey. Then leather, beeswax, chalk, straw and gentle smoke. Not huge, just really pure and long. Proper lovely dram.

Honestly this one just feels cleaner right away. Opens with that bright, pure lemon – big, chalky, almost mineral lemons that sit right up front on the palate. Not even slightly dirty; less tarry and rather less of that old garage-tools thing I sometimes get. More like a blade of straw, pretty blade-y actually, but in a crisp way. Then the smoke creeps in, not massive at all, just a thin mint-like whiff behind the citrus. There's new natural leather tucked in there too, soft and unsweetened. Mid-palate it goes surprisingly broad – bigger on the palate than expected – and I’m getting oysters, a salty clean kiss, then a weirdly comforting aspirin-tablets-in-water-with-lemon-juice-and-drops-of-honey-and-vanilla-essence vibe. In a good way. Tiny bit of embrocations heat but so pure. Cures you, I swear. Just an extremely pure expression of Springbank, all lemon-perfect and focused. 🍋🦪✨

Warm and cosy dram 🥃 Bit of honey, soft oak, dried fruit and a wee spicy kick. Feels smooth enough, with a gentle smoky edge and a nice lingering sweetness. Proper easy to sip on a quiet evening.
