Whiskyspace Notes 2068

Blimey, this one’s a right pickle 😅 First sip hits like someone’s left a pot of varnish out in the sun too long – proper pungent, that. But then… wait, there’s a faint gold hue and whispers of vanilla extract lurking underneath? Odd. The nose’s got this Jamaican-rum vibe going on, maybe from a Long Pond cask? Though I’m not convinced – smells more like scotch tape and a splash of paint thinner got mixed in by accident. On the tongue, it’s all over the shop – metallic polish upfront, then a wave of baker’s yeast diluted in varnish (tastes like someone’s been dabbling in the shed). Surprisingly, it’s rather long on the finish, clinging to the back of your throat like glue. High esters give it a weird popcorny crunch, but honestly, I can’t tell if that’s clever or just… funky. The barrels must’ve been fresh-painted recently – every mouthful feels like chewing on a tin of varnish. Still, there’s something oddly charming about it. Like finding a one tiny olive in a barrel of weirdness. Not sure I’d recommend it to my gran, but it’s the kind of dram that makes you sit up straight and mutter, “Right then, never had that before.”
