Oh, this one’s proper good—like, the quality’s just sitting there, all refined and not trying too hard. First sip’s got that fresh, clean edge, like rainwater after a storm, but then it’s all about the sea. Proper salty, like you’re standing on a pebble beach at low tide, with those seashells crunching underfoot. There’s this huge smoke rolling through, like a peat fire in the distance, but it’s not overpowering—just there, adding depth.
Then you get these tropical fruits popping up, almost like a bit of marzipan and lemon zest, but not sweet—more like the sharp tang of a cider apple you’ve left too long in the sun. And this antiseptic kick, like rubbing alcohol on a cut, but it’s not harsh—just there, reminding you it’s a proper whisky. The smoke’s got this Vicks vibe to it, like a cold night in a cosy room, but then it fades into this dill and raw wool texture, like a well-worn tweed jacket.
The finish’s long—proper satisfying. You can taste the seaweed, the fish, even a bit of smoked salmon, all mingling together like a proper coastal stew. And this camphor note at the end, like a bit of old medicine, but in a good way. It’s all just fab—not too sharp, not too sweet, just marvellous distillate doing its thing.
