Poured myself a dram last night - very dry straight away, that real manzanilla character just hits you. Quite compact in the mouth, weirdly reminds me of moist plaster somehow? Gets peppery after a bit, and those maltier notes start coming through. Definite amaretti biscuits vibe, maybe a touch of aged walnuts too. Something chalky about it, like that albariza soil they talk about with sherry. Has to be 1st fill sherry I reckon, the influence is so clear. Not a very extravagant malt honestly, but it's truly perfect in its own way. The aftertaste lingers nicely and the finish goes on forever. Reminds me of kougelhopf cake of all things 😅 and weirdly I get this shellfish thing, like whelks? Don't ask me why. Very coherent throughout though, just sits there nicely. Cheers 🥃

Just had a dram of this whisky. Colour's pale with some gold, likely first fill sherry cask. Tastes dry and chalky, like moist plaster or chalky soil. A bit of green pepper upfront, then nutty notes – aged walnuts and fresh walnut. Kinda reminds me of walnut liquors and amaretti biscuits. Aftertaste lingers with a hint of whelks, which is interesting. Honestly, truly perfect for a quiet evening. 🥃

Quite a cosy dram, really. Bit of honey, toasted malt and a soft fruity sweetness 🍯 Feels warm and rounded, with a wee touch of spice at the end. Nice and easy to sip.
