Honestly this one’s a bit of a weird one innit 🥃 Doesn’t quite feel 36, more like a mid-range dram that’s just cruised along quietly for ages, matured in ex-refill wood so it’s not all punchy. First you get that pale gold colour, then bright and fresh dill, crisp apples, tiny fruits, pink bananas and white peaches, a little not-too-ripe pineapple and a hint of melon tucked in there too. There’s a real freshness to it, less loud and clear, soft, plus that mineral side, a whiff of linseed oil and paraffin like you get from very old whiskies. A little lemongrass zing peeks through too, and you can tell there’s a bit of Irishness hiding in there, weirdly, with that clay and verbena edge. It’s medium weight, not the most stunning part of any lineup if I’m being honest, but there’s that depressive vintage vibe that’s strangely charming. Feels like it’ll properly unfold over the years, y’know? There’s a tiny touch of plasticine and patchouli right at the end too, odd but not off at all. Oh and if you listen close you get that spirit talk thing, like the whisky’s telling you a quiet little story 🥴
