Oh, this one’s a proper old-school blast—like stumbling back into the pub of my youth, but with a bit more punch. First sip hits like damp paper and grass, fresh-cut, almost nervous—like you’ve just walked past a field after rain. Then it’s all vanilla bags and that oily mouth feel, creamy as sour cream but with a bit of a kick, like it’s playing with your tongue. The oak’s got a playful side, not too sweet, just enough to make you think of waxed old books and chamomile tea—calming but with a bit of a bite. Overripe apricots and lemon pie pop up, pleasantly sourish, like someone’s left a jar of jam in the sun too long. The herbs are there, subtle but sharp, like chives in a salad—just enough to make you sit up straight. It’s got that old-style depth, not too zesty but still punchy, like a proper malt should be. The aftertaste drags on a bit, almost too long, but in a good way—like the last sip of a pint you didn’t want to end. High strength, but not in a burn-your-throat way, more like a warm hug from a mate who’s been around the block.
