Blimey, this one’s got some action at last – a very lovely nose that hits you like a warm kitchen on a winter morning. It’s drier than expected, with just a whisper of wood smoke and these gorgeous roasted nut notes that remind me of cracking walnuts by the fire. There’s a malty beer depth here, almost like a moist Christmas cake soaked in triple sec, but nothing gets flabby. The taste? Proper rich and profound, with hints of Darjeeling and a drop pf cognac lingering in the background. Now we’re talking – it’s like sipping a good Assam tea with a twist of walnut wine. Very different from the usual, but that’s what makes it special.
