Boann Distillery is a family-owned Irish whiskey distillery founded by Patrick & Marie Cooney alongside their children Sally-Anne, Celestine, Peter, Patrick, and James. Situated in the historic Boyne Valley of Ireland, the distillery represents the culmination of the Cooney family's four-decade legacy in the Irish drinks industry, drawing its name from Boann, the Celtic goddess of the River Boyne that runs through this storied region. The Cooneys built their beverage empire from modest beginnings as a small independent bottler, ultimately establishing the Gleeson Group—a vertically integrated drinks company with annual revenues exceeding €300 million. This extensive industry experience has granted them unparalleled insights into every facet of spirit production, from grain to glass, including distribution networks and brand development across international markets. After years of meticulous planning, the family realized their long-held dream of creating a truly artisanal distillery. Boann features uniquely engineered nano copper pot stills that enable precise, small-batch distillation with exceptional control over flavor development and cut points. The distillery's on-site maturation warehouses house a carefully curated inventory of oak casks—predominantly first-fill Kentucky bourbon barrels and premium Oloroso sherry butts—that impart complex layers of vanilla, baking spice, and dried fruit characteristics through years of patient aging. Their production philosophy marries time-honored Irish triple distillation methods with innovative techniques, resulting in exceptionally smooth yet characterful whiskeys that showcase both purity and complexity. The Boyne Valley's limestone-filtered water source and temperate maritime climate contribute significantly to the whiskey's distinctive profile. Boann's core range of expressions embodies the family's unwavering commitment to authenticity, quality craftsmanship, and the creation of whiskeys that honor Irish heritage while embracing contemporary innovation.
