Tomatin: In 2005, Tomatin decided to forge its own path. At year-end, they distilled a batch of whisky using Optic barley peated to 15ppm and filled them into various cask types. Eight years later, a distinctive Tomatin single malt brand emerged—Cù Bòcan. Over the following six years, the distillery released numerous expressions under this line. Despite its popularity, Tomatin felt it was time for a brand realignment. In summer 2019, three new Cù Bòcan whiskies launched: the core Signature, plus Creation #1 and Creation #2. Creation #1 is finished in a combination of Black Isle Brewery Imperial Stout casks and Bacalhôa Moscatel De Setúbal wine casks, while Creation #2 matures in Japanese shōchū casks and European virgin oak casks. The distillery features a nine-tonne full-lauter stainless steel mash tun, twelve stainless steel fermentation tanks (54-110 hour fermentation), and six stills. Its 2019 production target was 18 million liters, including two weeks dedicated to peated whisky production at 40ppm. The core range includes Legacy, 12, 18, 30, and 36 Year Old, plus Tomatin Cask Strength, Tomatin Port Cask 14 Year Old, and Tomatin First Fill Bourbon Cask UK Exclusive. The 30 Year Old joined in 2018. Limited releases feature the Five Virtues series (Wood, Fire, Earth, Water, Metal), each cask-finished for unique profiles. The Warehouse 6 Collection includes Tomatin 40 Year Old and the recent 1975 Oloroso Cask release. Tomatin 50 Year Old, one of the distillery's most historic releases, debuted in 2018. Travel retail exclusives include 8, 12, 15, and 40 Year Old expressions. The peated portfolio is represented by Cù Bòcan Signature, Cù Bòcan Creation #1, and Cù Bòcan Creation #2.

Pretty balanced dram, clean and fresh. Getting popcorn, acacia honey, a bit of tarte tatin and Belgian waffle 🧇 There’s a light white-wine vibe, plus silver needle tea and guava. Oak feels tidy, not too pushy. Medium feel, lovley wee Fruit Loops whiff at the end. Really good, perfectly fine for a relaxed evening 🥃

Warm and mellow, bit of honey and oak, with a gentle smoky tingle 😊 Feels cosy, like a quiet evening by the fire. Nice wee dram.

Right, this dram… 🥃 Nose is all honied orchard fruits – stewed apples, a wiff of toffee, maybe a wee floral note that makes ya think of heather 🌾 Palate’s oily in the best way, coats the mouth proper. There’s a bit of burnt sugar, some vanilla, then a gentle spice that sneaks up on ya – think cracked pepper or ginger 🌶️ Touch of dried fruit in the back, like sultanas. Finish is fair long and warming. Oak comes through nicely, with a faint echo of that fruity sweetness. Leaves a soft, leathery kind of dryness that just invites another sip… and another. It’s a comforting one, real fireside material 🔥 The flavours ain’t shouty but they definately keep you comming back. Sort of thing you’d pour on a rainy evening with the telly off, just you and the glass. Cheeky little drop, that. 😌

Right, so this one’s... interesting. First sip, got a bit of 🍎 fruit, maybe like baked apples? Then it’s all 🌳 woody and a bit spicy. Finish is kinda warm, 🔥 lingers a bit. Not too sweet, more like a dry thing. Quite warming on a cold night! 👍 Bit of a zing at the start, mellows out. Like, it’s solid, you know? Not mad fancy, just a good, proper drink. Cheers! 🥃

Blimey, this whisky's got a proper smoky vibe, like walkin' through a moor on a misty morn. 🔥 On the nose, there's a hint of sweet caramel and a whiff of dried fruit. 🍎 Tastin' it, feels smooth with a warm, spicy kick that lingers nicely. Finish is long and cozy, perfect for unwindin' after a long day. Definitely one for sippin' slow and enjoyin'. 😊
