🥃 Poured a dram last night after work, proper full gold in the glass first off. Nose is absolutely lovely straight away – got that symphony of plums, oranges, kumquats, even a whiff of banana liqueur, plus gorgeous tropical passion fruit notes peeking through too. Loads of those tiny spicy jammy tones all over, marmalade, fruit compotes and jams everywhere, a little hint of Demerara sugar, vanilla fudge, even touches of chocolate and cappuccino on the sip. Long, rich yet perfectly balanced, right? The aftertaste has that expected nutmeg and cinnamon spice, plus honey and dried fruits lingering for ages. It’s proper great whisky this, honestly. Used to think these old malt spots were so unnoticed in the olden days but this? Perfect. Maybe a tad rougher than other recent 1976s by the same gang but that just adds character, doesn’t it?
