Pale gold in the glass, quite waxy and a bit oily, with that lovely Irish sort of softness to it. I get mango pulp, lemon barley water and a splash of exotic fruit juice, then greener bits like grass, marjoram and pressed flowers. There’s a tiny shoe-polish whiff too, but in a nice old-cupboard way 😄 Finishes lightly peppery, a touch like soda bread with crystallised honey, and it hangs around nicely.

Just poured myself a dram, looks a nice pale gold in the glass. Hmm, getting a real waxy, sweet hit first off... like a bit of crystallised honey and those pollens you smell in a summer meadow. It’s got that very particular, extremely 'Irish' character, you know? Like a glass of chilled lemon barley water but with more weight. The texture’s lovely – really oilier, with a nice sense of fatness. Then there’s this interesting mix of grassy, leafier notes, maybe a bit of plain cereals and something herby like marjoram. A little green note comes through too, but it’s pleasant. With a drop of water, all sorts of tropical fruit juices pop out – mango pulp, some exotic fruit juices. And at the very end, a surprising flash of that New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc crispness and those peppery qualities. Just a faint, nostalgic whiff of shoe polish and crushed flowers in the background. Really satisfying. Very good. 😊 Sits there, oily and full, with that whole Irishness just shining through.
