SPEY Single Malt Scotch Whisky originates from one of Scotland's most venerable whisky dynasties, Harvey's of Edinburgh, established in 1770. For over 250 years, the family has remained steadfast in their mission to craft Scotland's most exceptional single malt whiskies. SPEY is particularly renowned for its dedication to the art of single cask maturation, where each bottle represents an unblended expression from an individual oak barrel, capturing the purest essence of their Speyside heritage. This meticulous approach ensures every release delivers an authentic, unrepeatable character that exemplifies the Harvey's family's unwavering commitment to quality and tradition.

Blimey, this one's absolutely mental! 😄 The citrus hits you straight away - loads of lemon and lime, almost like biting into fresh fruit. It's chalky somehow, you know? Like licking a seaside cliff (weird comparison I know lol). Very very long finish, keeps going and going. There's this herbal thing happening, bit of mint, something almost like verbena. And olive oil? Odd I know but there's definitely an oily richness there. Challenging stuff for sure - incredibly tart, bit pungent at first. But underneath it all there's something quite sublime. Reminds me a bit of a good white Graves actually, that minerality and freshness. Straw notes too if you wait long enough. Really hard work but bloody rewarding! 🥃

Blimey, this whisky hits you with a tighter citrus blast – think lemons and limes so incredibly tart yet extremely fresh. There's a Verveine vibe, almost herbal, and it feels sublime with an oily olive oil texture. Grassy notes pop up, like straw, with a chalky edge. The finish is very long, pungent with citrus, but it's a bit challenging, honestly. Reminds me of that Anti-Maltoporn Brigade spirit. 😅

Right, so this one's 63.1% - quite a beast. The finish is very long, keeps going and going. First thing I get is this avalanche of tighter citrus, especially lemons, almost Incredibly tart and pungent on the nose. But there's something Extremely fresh about it underneath, like straw after rain. Goes on the same notes as an old Laville I had years ago, or even that old forgotten bottle of Verveine my nan used to keep in the cupboard. The palate brings some grassy, bitter herbs and this unexpected olive oil note - a little challenging but rather sublime honestly 😌 Actually reminds me of a different whisky back in 1975 that I tried at some tasting once - I do not get much out of it anyway these days, memory's not what it was 😅 The joy of these tastings is you always stumble across something that catches you off guard. Quite sublime stuff really, would happily sit with this one for a while 🥃

Lovely warm sip — bit of honey, gentle oak, and a soft spicy tingle 🥃 Feels cosy, slightly smoky, with a nice sweet finish. Proper easy to enjoy on a chilly evening.
