Among numerous independent bottlers of Scotch whisky, Silvano Samaroli is regarded as an industry pioneer. He founded his own wine and spirits trading company, Samaroli Srl Wine and Spirits Merchants, in Rome in 1968. The company started as an importer and gradually became the first independent bottler of Scotch whisky outside the United Kingdom. In 1979, Samaroli launched its first batch of whiskies, including Cadenhead bottlings specially designed for the Italian market. In 1981, the brand's Flowers series was introduced, which has since transformed the collecting culture of Scotch whisky. To this day, the Flowers series ranks among the most competitive whiskies at auctions. As the business continued to expand, Samaroli began experimenting with cask strength bottling, pioneering the now-common practice among independent bottlers of bottling at high strength. Each bottle of Samaroli cask strength whisky is meticulously labeled with cask number, cask wood type, distillation date, tasting notes, and even interesting anecdotes behind it.

This one's got a proper interesting mix going on. First sip hits you with this bright orange marmalade sweetness, but then it's like someone's thrown in a bit of strawberry jam and a whisper of green tea. It's soft, not harsh, but there's something bizarre lurking underneath – camphor and cardamom, maybe a touch of oak. The finish is pretty long and excellent, with this strange hint of light curry that actually works in a good way. Complex stuff, tastes old but not too old, like it's been sitting around just enough to mellow out. Proper intriguing dram, this 🥃

Cheers mate, took a sip of this one and honestly, it’s rather special. First thing I got was this gentle green tea note, mingled with some green spices. Then it bloomed into something… peculiar. Like wandering through an old country house – there’s a whiff of old attic, something woody and ancient. Got this fleeting sense of an old wardrobe, even a touch of camphor and eucalyptus. Surprisingly, it’s not musty, just… deeply antique. The palate is a real trip. Good body, full gold colour. There’s a layer of milk chocolate and soft fudge that comes through, then this unexpected pop of strawberry jam and orange marmalade. Oddly, a hint of light curry and cardamom makes a show. Very complex, indeed. I swear I get brief, vivid ghosts of old peaters, a fleeting Laphroaig vibe, maybe. The finish is pretty long, leaving behind rose water and something that feels both terribly old and oddly modern. Soft and bizarre, in the best way possible. 🥃

Got a glass of this deep, full gold colour here. First thing I get on the nose... honestly, it smells exactly like the inside of an old wardrobe in an old attic in an old house. That dry, dusty, maybe slightly floral wood note. Very 'antique'. On the sip, it’s like a quiet conversation in your mouth – back and forth between sweet, almost floral notes... yeah, like mink, and then those fleeting, gentle whispers of a smoky, coastal character. There’s a marriage of these rare, old things happening, and it’s not only about the oak – it’s like the best aged spirit blends do. Very special. Hints of fur and roses mix with something like orange blossom water. It’s greatly old wood, then that coastal touch comes back again. You know, it’s like being in an old country house... maybe not one in Britain, but somewhere timeless. 🌿 Very unusual.

Quite warm and cosy 🥃 I get a bit of honey, dried fruit, soft spice and a wee touch of oak. Feels smooth-ish, with a gentle peppery kick at the end. Nice for a slow evening.
