Just had a proper dram last night after work 🥃 First you get that bright pine needle hit, then soft barley water malt, bits of bread crumble sweetness, like you nabbed a piece of sourdough still warm from the baker’s. It’s proper not modern, no flashy new modern distillery nonsense here, feels like old school stuff that’s been sat in a damp cellar for ages. History often hurts innit? You can taste all the old stories in it, but it’s not easy-easy to knock bak, you gotta sip slow. Warms up a bit and the soapiness further comes out, y’know? Got a hit of raw cider sharpness, pressed grapefruit peel zest, even a faint ink note, like you licked a biro as a kid. That linseed oil tang, slight tallow richness, a whiff of new plastic pouches when you first poured, and that weird chemical taste that hangs just for a sec. All wrapped round with heavy beer, distilled beer depth, a hint of grass juice freshness, that slight engine oil edge, proper rough round the edges. Aftertaste is medium finish, lingers just right, not too much, not too little. Proper worth bottling, this one, even if it’s a bit mental.
